Effectual Prayer
Surely, we are all guilty of having asked God for things, “amiss that we may consume it upon our lust” (James 4:3). Thankfully, our Heavenly Father in His infinite wisdom and love says; no, my child, that is not what you need. Is there anything we can ask of God to which He will never say no? Yes, there is. Ask for forgiveness, mercy, grace, faith, wisdom, love, righteousness, peace, hope, light, knowledge. In short, ask for Christ and with Him will come exceeding, abundantly above all that we ask or think…” (Ephesians 3:20). One of the reasons the LORD lets us labor in prayer is to bring us to see and to seek the weightier matters, the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
