A Short Study of Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
(Jeremiah 29:11)

God’s people oftentimes, especially in times of difficulty, allow their fears to dictate their expectations. But the expectations of their faith tell them that whatever God has promised He is able to perform, no matter what their present circumstances may be. God’s thoughts and God’s deeds are in perfect harmony. And because God changes not, we can be confident that, although it often seems to the contrary, God is working all things together for the everlasting good of His people. A child of God has good reason to expect what God has promised, He will most certainly bring to pass. The glory of God has something to do with the eternal salvation of His people. If salvation is of the LORD, and that salvation is not completed, it would reflect on every attribute of God. God never forgets and has never changed His purpose of grace to His people. With such a God, we can rest assured that He is bringing us to that expected end where we shall be forever with the LORD. This is the rightful expectation of all who put their trust in Jesus Christ. We shall never be put to shame or disappointed in that trust. Christ will never let us down!
