“All Israel Shall Be Saved”
“For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural [branches], be graffed into their own olive tree? For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob. For this [is] my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.”
(Romans 11:24-27)
All spiritual Israel shall be saved. This is the unalterable end of the covenant of grace and all of God’s dealings with both Jews and Gentiles with regard to it. Any earthly Jew who is not a spiritual, will be broken off, and every earthly Gentile who is a spiritual Jew shall be grafted in. The net result is that all who are in Christ have life, whether Jew or Gentile. “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36) It is by faith in Christ that any sinner is either grafted in, or not broken off (Romans 11:22-23).
The terms of the covenant are fulfilled by this Deliverer Who cometh out of Sion (Romans 11:26), and have nothing to do with nationality or heritage. These terms have to do with sins being taken away. Our great Deliverer, the Lord Jesus Christ hath fulfilled these terms by His righteous life as our Representative and sin-atoning death as our Substitute.
