“And Ye Know All Things”
In the context of the many antichrists of these last days, all of the deceivers and many daparting from the Gospel of God’s free grace, the apostle John says to every true believer, “But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things” (1st John 2:18-28). The Holy Spirit is sent by the Lord Jesus to abide with and in every true believer, confirming the truths of the Gospel to their hearts, whereby they know all things necessary to deliver their souls from the darkness of deception; to keep them from ever being deceived and turning away from Christ. They can not and will not turn away from Christ!
From the standpoint of God’s eternal decrees, one might say that they will not because they can not; but from the standpoint of their actual experience, they can not because they will not!
Their heart-cry is, “Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God” (John 6:67-69). Their hearts may be sorely tried and afflicted as they pass through this world, but their cry will always be, “My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed (Psalm 57:7; 108:1), and “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” (Job 13:15)
