“This Great Company That Cometh Against Us”
“O our God, wilt thou not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.”
(2nd Chronicles 20:12)
The above words were spoken by King Jehoshaphat in prayer unto God. Finding himself in a desperate situation, the great king becomes as a little child, honestly and sincerely pouring out his heart unto his God. Having come to the end of his own wisdom and power, he looked to God and God alone for help.
What a wonderful condition for sinful men and women to find themselves in! How wonderful it is when one is brought, by the Spirit and grace of God, to the end of self, without strength, without wisdom, simply and honestly looking to the Lord Jesus Christ in childlike trust, hoping only in Him. One poor leper did so when he said, “Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me whole.”
