A Short Study of Ecclesiastes 7:1
“A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one’s birth.”
(Ecclesiastes 7:1)
Man that is born of woman is but a few days and full of trouble (Job 14:1). Because we are born in sin, trouble naturally follows this flesh to the grave (Psalm 51:5) but those who are blessed with faith in Christ; in the day of their death and departure, no more trouble, sorrow or sin (Revelation 21:4). This is only true for those who are blessed to die in faith, resting in and trusting the Lord Jesus Christ; “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.” (Revelation 14:13)
That is why the apostle Paul said, “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” (Philippians 1:21)
No wonder the LORD said, the death of a believer is precious in His sight (Psalm 116:15; John 17:24).
