Prelude To The Parable of the Ten Virgins

Matthew 24:40 – Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Matthew 24:41 – Two grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 

Matthew 24:42 – Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

Matthew 24:43 – But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

Matthew 24:44 – Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Matthew 24:45 – Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

Matthew 24:46 – Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

Matthew 24:47 – Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

Matthew 24:48 – But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

Matthew 24:49 – And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

Matthew 24:50 – The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

Parable of The Ten Virgins

Matthew 25:1 – Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins,which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom

Matthew 25:2 – And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

Matthew 25:3 – They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no OIL with them:

Matthew 25:4 – But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

Matthew 25:5 – While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

Matthew 25:6 – And at midnight there was a cry made,Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. 

Matthew 25:7 – Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

Matthew 25:8 – And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 

Matthew 25:9 – But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

Matthew 25:10 – And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

Matthew 25:11 – Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

Matthew 25:12 – But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not

Matthew 25:13 – Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Virgins

Genesis 24:43 – Behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass, that when the VIRGIN cometh forth to draw water, and I say to her, GIVE ME, I PRAY THEE, A LITTLE WATER OF THY PITCHER TO DRINK;

Genesis 24:44 – And she say to me, Both drink thou, and I will also draw for thy camels: let the same be the woman whom the LORD hath appointed out for my master’s son.

  • I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink

Matthew 25:31 – When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

Matthew 25:32 – And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

Matthew 25:33 – And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Matthew 25:34 – Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Matthew 25:35 – For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

Matthew 25:36 – Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Matthew 25:37 – Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

Matthew 25:38 – When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 

Matthew 25:39 – Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

Matthew 25:40 – And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Matthew 25:41 – Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Matthew 25:42 – For I was an hungered, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

Matthew 25:43 – I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Matthew 25:44 – Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

Matthew 25:45 – Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

Matthew 25:46 – And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.


2nd Corinthians 11:2 – For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as A CHASTE VIRGIN TO CHRIST.

2nd Corinthians 11:3 – But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

2nd Corinthians 11:4 – For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.


Revelation 14:4 – These are they which were not defiled with women; for THEY ARE VIRGINS. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

Bridegroom

Matthew 9:14 – Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not? 

Matthew 9:15 – And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.


Joel 2:15 – Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly

Joel 2:16 – Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, [2315. cheder, kheh’-der; an apartment (usually lit.):–([bed] inner) chamber, innermost (-ward) part, parlour, + south, X within.] and the bride out of her closet[2646. chuppah, khoop-paw’; a canopy:–chamber, closet, defence.] 

Joel 2:17 – Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God? 

Joel 2:18 – Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his people. 

Joel 2:19 – Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen: 

Joel 2:20 – But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things.


Jeremiah 7:32 – Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be called Tophet, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter: for they shall bury in Tophet, till there be no place. 

Jeremiah 7:33 – And the carcases of this people shall be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth; and none shall fray them away.

Jeremiah 7:34 – Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.

Jeremiah 25:7 – Yet ye have not hearkened unto me, saith the LORD; that ye might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt

Jeremiah 25:8 – Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Because ye have not heard my words

Jeremiah 25:9 – Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the LORD, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations. 

Jeremiah 25:10 – Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle. Jer 25:11 And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

Oil

Psalm 89:20 – I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:

Hebrews 1:9 – Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Ezekiel 16:8 – Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine.

Ezekiel 16:9 – Then washed I thee with water; yea, I thoroughly washed away thy blood from thee, and I anointed thee with oil.


Psalm 23:1 – A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Psalm 23:2 – He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

Psalm 23:3 – He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Psalm 23:4 – Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Psalm 23:5 – Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Psalm 23:6 – Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.


Exodus 27:20 – And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.

Exodus 27:21 – In the tabernacle of the congregation without the veil, which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a statute for ever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel.


Exodus 35:10 – And every wise hearted among you shall come, and make all that the LORD hath commanded;

Exodus 35:11 – The tabernacle, his tent, and his covering, his taches, and his boards, his bars, his pillars, and his  sockets,

Matthew 13:47 – Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:

Matthew 13:48 – Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.

Matthew 13:49 – So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, 

Matthew 13:50 – And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 13:51 – Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.

Matthew 13:52 – Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.


Romans 9:22 – What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

Romans 9:23 – And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

Romans 9:24 – Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?


Tarried

Matthew 24:45 – Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

Habakkuk 2:1 – I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.

Habakkuk 2:2 – And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

Habakkuk 2:3 – For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, [mahahh, maw-hah’; prop. to question or hesitate, i.e. (by impl.) to be reluctant:–delay, linger, stay selves, tarrywait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Slumbered and Slept

  • To sleep is to be silent

Matthew 9:18 – While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him,saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. 

Matthew 9:19 – And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples. 

Matthew 9:20 – And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: 

Matthew 9:21 – For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. 

Matthew 9:22 – But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. 

Matthew 9:23 – And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, 

Matthew 9:24 – He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth[katheudo] And they laughed him to scorn. 

Matthew 9:25 – But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose. 

Matthew 9:26 – And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.


Matthew 13:24 – Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

Matthew 13:25 – But while men slept, [katheudo] his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.


Ephesians 5:6 – Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Ephesians 5:7 – Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

Ephesians 5:8 – For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

Ephesians 5:9 – (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

Ephesians 5:10 – Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

Ephesians 5:11 – And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

Ephesians 5:12 – For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

Ephesians 5:13 – But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

Ephesians 5:14 – Wherefore he saith, AWAKE THOU THAT SLEEPEST, [katheudo] AND ARISE FROM THE DEAD, and Christ shall give thee light.

Ephesians 5:15 – See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

Ephesians 5:16 – Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5:17 – Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.


1st Thessalonians 5:1 – But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

1st Thessalonians 5:2 – For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

1st Thessalonians 5:3 – For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

1st Thessalonians 5:4 – But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

1st Thessalonians 5:5 – Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

1 Thessalonians 5:6 – Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

1st Thessalonians 5:7 – For they that sleep, sleep [katheudo]in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

1st Thessalonians 5:8 – But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

1st Thessalonians 5:9 – For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

1st Thessalonians 5:10 – Who died for us, that, WHETHER WE WAKE OR SLEEP, [katheudoWE SHOULD LIVE TOGETHER WITH HIM.

1st Thessalonians 5:11 – Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.


Matthew 26:40 – And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep[katheudo] and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

Matthew 26:41 – Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Matthew 26:42 – He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

Matthew 26:43 – And he came and found them asleep [katheudo] again: for their eyes were heavy.

Matthew 26:44 – And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

Matthew 26:45 – Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep [katheudoon now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

Matthew 26:46 – RISE, LET US BE GOING: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.


Mark 13:35 – Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:

Mark 13:36 – Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping[katheudo]

Mark 13:37 – And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.


Revelation 11:7 – And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

Revelation 11:8 – And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

Revelation 11:9 – And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.

Revelation 11:10 – And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

Revelation 11:11 – And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

Midnight

  • Mid way through the night (great tribulation)

mesos, mes’-os;[used 61x’s] from G3326; middle (as adj. or [neut.] noun):–among, X before them, between, + forth, mid [-day, -night], midst, way.


Luke 21:21 – Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

The Cry at Midnight Represents The Call To Come Out

Midnight being the time of judgment (removing of the candlestick, 6th trumpet, the 2nd woe) as we read in:

Revelation 11:11 – And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

Is this verse speaking of the catching away of the saints to meet the Lord Jesus in the air or the call to depart out? (Luke 21:21; Jeremiah 6:1; Matthew 24:16; Jeremiah 51:45; Revelation 18:4)
