“Tongue” – Scripture Study

Proverbs 18:20 – A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.

Proverbs 18:21 – Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.


Psalm 10:7 – His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.


Psalm 5:8 – Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.

Psalm 5:9 – For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.

James 3:1 – My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

James 3:8 – But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.


1st Corinthians 14:7 – And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?

1st Corinthians 14:8 – For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

1st Corinthians 14:9 – So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.

1st Corinthians 14:10 – There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.
