A Short Study of Psalm 36:10
“O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.”
‘Keep it coming, Lord!’ is the sentiment of David. He desired for God to prolong, endure, and sustain the loving grace and mercy that He so generously gives.
Is David being greedy or inappropriate in such a request?
No. It doesn’t come from an unthankful and sinfully demanding heart. It comes from a heart that recognizes that it cannot function and prosper without God.
Imagine going just one day without the grace of God!
One day where you are on your own!
One day where you are left to operate on your own strength!
One day where the throne of grace is not available!
We need God!
Without Him, our faith slips into unbelief. Apart from His influence and strength, we fall into the filth of sin. On our own, we will not see clearly our great Savior, and be conformed to His image.
The good news is, God is faithful. The very thing that David prayed for and our own hearts ache for is something that God has promised to do. His promise is that His love and mercy would not end. He assures us that our very names are graven on the palms of His hand. His word is that nothing can separate us from His love.
Keep it coming, Lord!
