God Will Carry Us
“And even to your old age I am He; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.”
Quite tender is the commitment of God to His people. The God that made us and formed us, pledges Himself to be with us, and even carry and bear us up throughout our pilgrimage here.
How needy we are of this Divine carrying. The sick, the grieving, the rejected, the struggling sinner all need this faithfulness of God. God can go farther with us and deeper with us than even our dearest loved ones here.
Interestingly, immediately after this verse, God rebukes the idol worshippers. He rebukes them because they make their gods with their own hands and then “They bear him (their god) upon the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in his place” (Isaiah 46:7).
How pathetic, the worshippers carrying their own god!
How opposite this is of the promise the true God gives to His children. Rejoice today that your God is not in need of you bearing Him on your shoulders. He does not get weak, weary, and overwhelmed. He leans upon no one and no thing for aid and strength. He is self-sufficient.
The God we serve doesn’t ask His followers to carry Him, rather, He promises to carry them!
He has all that we need; He can bear our weakness, grief, and pain. Ask the Lord to carry you today.
