The Blessedness of Imputed Righteousness
In the history of the church there have always been men who, because of ignorance and self-righteousness, want to belittle, devalue, and even cheapen the glorious Gospel truth of imputed righteousness calling it some sort of “legal fiction”, or a righteousness “merely imputed”.
It is just as true in our day, but, child of God, do not listen to them and do not follow their heresy. Consider how God the Holy Spirit inspired David to speak of it – “Even as David also describeth the BLESSEDNESS of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, saying, BLESSED are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. BLESSED is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin” (Romans 4:6-8).
Rest assured that the non-imputation of sin and the imputation of Christ’s righteousness to us is no “legal fiction” or “mere righteousness”.
It is not God seeing His people as righteous when they are really not righteous.
When God declares a sinner righteous in and by Christ, that sinner is really and truly righteous in and by Christ.
IT IS BLESSEDNESS AND THE REALITY OF JUSTIFICATION BEFORE GOD FOR THE CHILD OF GOD IN AND BY CHRIST.
