A Short Study of Luke 19:40
“And He answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.”
(Luke 19:40)
Jesus was responding to the Pharisees, who were disgruntled over the people lavishing praise on Jesus. The response of Christ is striking. He noted that even if the people kept quiet and didn’t break forth in praise, then the stones would begin to cry out with praise.
You see, the Pharisees didn’t realize that when they were in the presence of Christ, they were in the presence of Greatness!
This man they constantly quarreled with and opposed was also God. This Jesus of Nazareth was and is fully and completely worthy of praise. He must be praised.
It is so necessary that on that day if the people had kept quiet, then the stones would have been worshiping Him!
Honor and praise Jesus Christ today. Praise Him if you feel like it and praise Him even when you don’t. Praise Him when you’ve had victory and praise Him when you’ve been defeated. Praise Him on upbeat, prosperous days, and praise Him on dark, sad days. Praise Him…He is worthy!
