The Life and Times of John Wycliff – Part 1

Part one of The Life and Times of John Wycliffe, Oxford Scholar, Philosopher and Theologian. This renowned Christian thinker was heavily influenced by the teachings of Augustine, mention is also made of others who impacted upon the formation of his theological views, his conviction on the merits of preaching and his belief in the sovereignty of grace.

In this first session we learn that he became an advisor to the Royal Court of Edward III, and also of his involvement in the national politics of his day. He became a fierce critic of the Papacy and the medieval church, the result of which being that he received much opposition.
