Christ Our Sabbath

“There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For HE that is entered into HIS rest, HE also hath ceased from HIS own works, as God did from HIS.”
(Hebrews 4:9-10)

Brethren, we who, by the power of God the Holy Spirit, have believed in Christ and repented of our own dead works have entered into a true, spiritual, eternal sabbath rest.

Our rest is not one day of the week on which we cease to work physically.

Our rest is a Person who by Himself finished a work for us and rested from that work.

Our sabbath rest is CHRIST AND HIM CRUCIFIED!

Christ on the cross finished the work He was sent to do in the redemption and justification of His people, God’s elect. He put away our sins and gave us His righteousness, and we rest in Him. When we by the Holy Spirit enter into our sabbath rest, we enter into HIS rest. We rest in His redeeming grace and love for us.

The call of the Gospel is a call, not to work for salvation, but to rest in Christ for all of salvation. All good works are by the power of God and motivated in us as fruit unto God that flows from our rest in Christ our Sabbath.

One Comment on “Christ Our Sabbath

  1. Act 21:25 As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.

2Jn 1:5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Luk 5:37 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.

Luk 5:39 No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.

Galatians 4:9-11 “But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elemental things, to which you desire to be enslaved all over again? You observe days and months and seasons and years. I fear for you, that perhaps I have labored over you in vain.”

Colossians 2:16-17 “Therefore let no one act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day–things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.”

Yes the horn that thought to change times and laws points to
the woman riding the Beast, and yes the 4th commandment has
pointed to making it clear – keep Sunday and obey that woman or obey God.

But it is near the end and the showdown will escalate and I believe Jesus has done it this way to see who is reading His
Word and to buy us more time to develop a relationship with Him
and while the world believes it will come to two days, it really comes to knowing Jesus Christ, and following Him, who broke sabbath laws.

Choosing a day will not save you, hypocrites keep the Sabbath
too. The world might look one day at the battle between two
power churches – Adventists and Catholics, yet can it be they are just opposite sides of same coin.

We are to rest in Him because the issue will be far greater than this and His authority is far greater than a day of the week. As the end approaches, it will be black and white enough.

It will be evident who are His, because ALL will have to worship
the Babylon way and if you don’t you are “silenced”, that is
how they politely put it during the Eucumenical Meeting in 1999.

And when it comes to that will it be important whether we bow
to the golden image on Saturday or Sunday?

And if they mock you about the Sabbath, you can quote Hebrews
    4: 9 -10.

And if you keep the sabbath, that is fine also, as long as
you rest in Christ, and read the Word, take heed let no man
    deceive you.
