Excellent sermon. It is just a pity that the minister quotes from heretical versions of scripture, i.e., the New International Version, for one, a work that had Arians involved in its compilation. Hence, the denials that Christ was the only begotten Son of God.
What the minister misses the point of is that the Holy Ghost was more than acting upon certain individuals under the Old Testament, that the Holy Ghost was in the Able’s, Noah’s Job’s, Solomon’s. This has to be so or they would all be indwelt of the spirit of Satan (Eph.2.2), and not freely by the Holy Spirit, and justified by the promise of the finished work of Jesus Christ. Regeneration was before Calvary, by promise, surety.
Pentecost simply heralded in a new dispensation of the Spirit of God, made more manifest to the world, and hence the physical manifestation, making that which was once hid to be openly seen and confessed. Death and resurrection sealed all that went before.
The minister misses the point that the Holy Ghost was only made manifest at Pentecost, being before in the church, that Calvary made for a more open declaration. The Spirit did not take up stewardship at Pentecost. It seems that the minister believes that the church of Jesus Christ only came into existance at Pentecost. The Spirit of God has always had stewardship of the church, even under the Old Testament, He moving holy men, not men that were indwelt of an unholy spirit, moving holy men to pen the spoken word of God, and to preach of God, to continue to call for repentance and a repentance to salvation, not just to natioanal repentance.
The minister is following the traditional line. Old rope.
